The Maine bar exam assesses whether an examinee is competent to practice law in the State of Maine. Passing the bar exam is an essential step in becoming a lawyer in Maine. The exam consists of three components: an essay component, a multiple-choice component, and a performance component. Examinees are tested on a variety of legal subjects.In order to pass the Maine bar exam, you must attain the score of 276. The MBE counts for 50% of the score. The written components count for 50% of the score: 30% for the 6 MEE questions; and 20% for the 2 MPT items. Maine makes bar exam results available approximately 8 to 10 weeks after the exam.The MPRE is a test in addition to the Maine Bar Examination. The National Conference of Bar Examiners administers the MPRE. Admission by Motion applicants must have taken the MPRE before submitting an application.
